A Match for Myanmar?

EG Guitars
UPDATED We're joined by the much-loved, fast-talking father and son team Hans and Raffa. Our introduction to the Industry’s shooting star Burma is exhilarating, and harsh. The sidewalks in our part of Yangon a treacherous puzzle of broken concrete, gaping holes and orange dirt, small mounds of garbage smoldering in the ditches; windowless, booked up 27 $ Hninzii Guesthouse an almost comical example for the law of supply and demand. And to top off the kaleidoscopic cultural disorientation, we’re overwhelmed by lovely, completely disarming smiles everywhere: Some

Leaving Kanchanaburi's charms for Bangkok's allure. It didn't take long for Thailand to win over our hearts again. It feels too soon to be leaving. We're about to spend a month in Myanmar. A stack of brand new US $ bills from a good old bank in Switzerland came with us, so our main task here was the visa. There is more than enough information online to make getting it completely hassle-free. Getting to Like Kanchanaburi

Giant Monkey Pod Tree
We said goodbye to dreamy Sangkhlaburi and found a temporary home in Kanchanaburi again. Kanchanburi is growing on us! I spent three soothing hours there: hot herbal treatment, steam room and facial added up to 1000 B including free taxi both ways, (a 10-15 minute trip). I’d go

What better place to reconnect with charming inscrutable Thailand.  Early morning Khao Laem Lake. Late afternoon cruising. Mysterious moments. Sights for sore eyes.

Not so Lonely Kanchanaburi

Touristic Evergreen Kanchanaburi seems rather quiet for a Saturday night.... But wait- there's hope! Yup.    Recommended by Guess Who.... The River Kwai Bridge is still a universal magnet. No traces here of the blood, sweat, tears, and lives lost in its building. Long gone, but obviously not forgotten.

Non-stop Richterswil, Switzerland to Kanchanaburi, Thailand

2 long flights, an easy airport-city-link transfer, a one-station BTS hop to Victory Monument, a wild 2.5 hour mini bus (110 Baht p/p) and a short exhilarating tuk tuk ride deliver us to a raft-house on the languid waters of the Kwai river. Exactly 22 and three quarter hours after pick up in the cold grey of a Swiss winter morning. 14 hours of sleep restore us to some semblance of ourselves, but only just. Taking time to acclimatize to the

We’re in Business!

We've got business cards! We don't have a business, but they're beautiful and fun to make so we thought why not! And I'm proud:
